Thinking About Work At Home Employment?

If you are considering, home employment, you need to realize that it is basically entering into a whole new employment realm. There are several aspects to setting up home employment whether it be a home based business, or employment from home as an employee of a company. A lot of people coming out of the work force to work at home are used to the “employee” mentality.

Here are some things to think about if you are considering working from home:

- Do you have all the tools necessary to be able to do the type of work you are considering from home?
- Do you have an area at home that you can dedicate to your home employment?
- Do you have money set aside to pay your bills while building your income, or are you willing to start your employment from home part time while building your income?
- Do you have the support necessary to do your job or run your business from home?

These are just a few of the things to consider when thinking about working from home. That should get the cogs of your brain turning. Now, let’s take a minute and talk about the pros and cons of home employment.

Home Employment Pros:

- You get to set your own hours.
- You save money on gas and wear and tear on your vehicle.
- You only have a five to ten second commute. (Big time savings)
- Most home employment situations will allow you to have unlimited and/or passive income. (Get an income raise when you decide, not someone else)
- You set your own employment parameters. (Do what you want to do)
- You can take leisure time when you want.
- If it is a home based business, then there are several tax benefits.

Home Employment Cons:

- You have to discipline yourself to work productively at home.
- You have to pay for your resources (office supplies, telephone, computer, etc.)
- Income can fluctuate. (Depends on efforts and choices)
- Cabin Fever can set in if you don’t let yourself out much.
- You have to supply your own benefits. (Medical, Dental, etc.)

Here are some tips to get you started with home employment:

- Start your home employment part time so you can build your income to where you are comfortable enough to go full time.
- Identify your network of support.
- Be extremely self-motivated. Find the tools that will help you in self-motivation. (Reminders, To Do Lists, etc.)
- Try to set up your home employment office in a separate part of your home so as to get rid of as many distractions as possible.
- Set strict hours for yourself. (Income will most likely follow productivity.)
- Treat it like a large business from the start. (Not like a hobby…or it will pay you that way.)

All in all, my opinion on work at home employment is that it can be a very rewarding alternative to working outside the home if done right.
